Title: Nonprofit Programs Manager

Reports to: Vice President, Library and Nonprofit Services

Department/Program: Library Services

Organizational Context: Donors Forum Library is the largest philanthropic collection in the Midwest, and offers unique services and resources to both the philanthropic and nonprofit sector throughout Illinois. The Library offers a full array of training opportunities for the nonprofit community related to fundraising and management. The Library has long been regarded as one of the most essential services offered by the Donors Forum.

General Job Description: The Nonprofit Programs Manager is responsible for developing all nonprofit programming (workshops and Dialogues with Donors) offered by the Donors Forum Library. This includes regular review of class curriculum with revision when necessary, supervision of course instructors, and bibliographic instruction. The Nonprofit Programs Manager works closely with the Vice President, Library and Nonprofit Services to extend the reach of Donors Forum programming throughout the state.

Essential Job Duties and Anticipated Outcomes:

1. Manages course content development and implementation of all nonprofit programming offered by Donors Forum Library. Collaborates with other service centers when appropriate. This includes development of new workshops, regular review of curriculum with revisions made when necessary, recruitment and supervision of instructors.

2. Remains current with management and capacity building needs and trends of nonprofit organizations.

3. Develops and/or manages all participant education materials.

4. Develop and update workshop bibliographies.

5. Serve as Donors Forum faculty and delivers workshop instruction, as needed.

6. Conduct evaluations of all workshops and seminars in accordance with an overall evaluation plan developed by Donors Forum staff.

7. Assure adequate marketing of workshops, working with External Relations staff and others when appropriate.

8. Deliver library orientations in coordination with Library Services Coordinator.

9. Assist in serving Members, Associate Members and Forum Partners in fulfilling reference requests.

10. Meet annual budget goals set in annual planning process.

11. Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies. Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Measures:

  • New workshops developed based on Illinois Nonprofit Principles and Best Practices, current nonprofit trends and participant feedback.
  • Workshop content is reviewed annually and updated, as needed.
  • Workshop participant feedback goals are achieved in accord with established benchmarks.
  • Instructors are kept well-informed of staff expectations through regular communications and instructor performance is regularly monitored and evaluated.
  • Discovery and communication of new reference sources, and other materials is continually pursued.

Position Qualifications:

  • Three to five years experience developing curriculum and delivering training in an association setting preferred.
  • Experience working in reference and/or public service in a special library is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit community and fund-raising preferred.
  • Computer literate, with demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
