Who We Are | What We Offer | How To Join

Who We Are
The Donors Forum brings together grantmakers, donors, trustees and professional advisors in a community dedicated to effective, responsible and creative giving. In addition to serving foundations, corporate giving programs and other donors, the Donors Forum has also created an associate membership category for individuals who advise others concerning their financial and philanthropic goals. As a part of this community, you have access to ideas, colleagues, expertise and information. We help you to help your clients achieve their giving potential.

Our Associate Members include attorneys, philanthropic consultants, accountants, estate planners and trust officers.

What We Offer
Whether you are looking for ideas on how to best raise the topic of giving with clients, working with clients who want to start a foundation, or are researching nonprofits who might fit a donor interest, as an Associate Member you can tap into the tools, networks and learning opportunities you need. We offer:

  • Skill-building programs specifically designed for the professional advisor and featuring leaders in topics of wealth and strategic giving.
  • Personalized research and reference assistance to answer your questions and provide sample documents, benchmarking information, trend data and more from our library collection and research staff.
  • Networking events and peer exchanges for advisors and grantmakers.
  • Special publications like The Toolkit for Giving.
Plus, Associate Members receive the same services and privileges as our grantmaking Members, including:
  • Special luncheons and events for our Members and Associate Members featuring national and local experts.
  • Programs on issues ranging from school reform and ethics to the latest in arts education.
  • Free copies of our premiere publications, including Giving in Illinois, the Directory of Illinois Foundations, and research reports on the nonprofit and philanthropic sector.
  • Issue-specific affinity groups focused on poverty, youth development, immigrants and refugees, health, education, the arts, and more.
  • Subscription to Forumnotes, our monthly e-newsletter with articles about trends in the nonprofit sector, staff and board changes at grantmakers and nonprofits and recent grants made by regional foundations.
  • Twenty percent discount on classes at North Park University's Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management.
