One-On-One
Clinic Time Now Available from Donors Forum
Would your grantees benefit from specialized help on a specific
topic, project or challenge their organization is currently
addressing? Donors Forum is now offering one-on-one Clinic
Time with a professional who can help them. Sample scenarios
might be:
- A nonprofit is announcing a new program,
and is unsure if it warrants media attention. Who in the
media do they contact, and how can they make sure their
program gets the media attention it deserves?
- An organization is doing strategic planning
with a SWOT analysis. They need help identifying their specific
strengths and weaknesses.
- A development director wants to try a
new approach to individual giving. Will the new ideas work?
Also, it would be helpful to brainstorm other tactics to
try, given the organization's specific donor base.
Clinic days will take place the third Wednesday
of every month, beginning January 16 (except May, when Clinic
Time will be held on the third Tuesday). The cost is $275
for two hours; or $200 per two hours for Donors Forum Members,
Associate Members, and Forum Partners.

Arrivals in the Donors Forum Library
Here's a sampling of the latest books
we've added to our collection (as of July 1, 2008):
Foundation Growth and Giving Estimates:
Current Outlook by Steven Lawrence and Reina Mukai
(Foundation Center, 2008). This publication provides foundation
giving estimates for 2007 and covers giving from community,
independent, and corporate foundations.
Managing Volunteers: Balancing Risk
and Reward by Melanie L. Herman (Nonprofits' Insurance
Alliance of California and Alliance for Nonprofits for Insurance,
Risk Retention Group, 2000). This book gives a brief history
of volunteers in America, and addresses volunteer liability,
recruitment and screening, training, supervising, disciplining,
and insuring volunteers.
Volunteers: A Social Profile by
Marc A. Musick and John Wilson (Indiana University Press,
2008). This is a sociological study on volunteers, what type
of people volunteer, and what motives people to volunteer.
The authors review research on volunteering and offer new
insights.
