- Donors Forum, a statewide organization that
promotes philanthropy and an effective nonprofit sector,
will present a series of its Dialogue with Donors workshops
in collaboration with Chicagos Roosevelt University.
At the four spring and summer workshops, panels of representatives
from local corporations and foundations will discuss
their giving priorities and what they require from nonprofits
applying for grants and sponsorships. After each session,
nonprofit leaders will be able to ask questions and
share feedback.
Dialogue with Donors
offers nonprofit staff and board members a unique opportunity
to learn firsthanddirectly from the fundersabout
their priorities and perspectives, said Claudette
Baker, Vice President of Library and Nonprofit Services
at Donors Forum. And, were particularly
pleased to be in partnership with Roosevelt on this
series, as it gives us the opportunity to offer these
workshops to a whole new constituency.

Roles and Responsibilities in Corporate
Sponsorship

Join corporate grantmakers to learn the ins and outs
of building relationships that lead to corporate sponsorship.
Discuss how nonprofit and corporate roles and responsibilities
in a sponsorship context differ from those when a grant
is made. Obtain information about the sponsorship interests
of local corporate funders and share your concerns and
experiences in creating opportunities.

Ever wonder what you should be counting, or whether
counting is even the best strategy? Gain insight into
how grantmakers think about evaluation. Ask how they
evaluate efforts in their own organizations as well
as in those of their grantees. Discuss what foundation
staff members look for in the evaluation section of
proposals and how outcomes factor into funding decisions.

This program provides an opportunity for conversation
with several grantmakers who have recently transitioned
to new foundations. Get to know these grantmakers and
the funding priorities of their respective organizations.
Find out about their expectations of grantseekers in
building relationships. Explore ways you can become
more successful in the cycle of donor relations and
share your insights as to how you can help make these
grantmakers jobs easier.

Perspectives on Maintaining Nonprofit
Health and Stability

Hear grantmaker perspectives on their role, if any,
when nonprofits face new or intensified challenges.
Explore strategies for open communication and concerns
grantseekers may have about sharing their struggles
as well as their successes. This program provides the
opportunity for candid discussion about how to handle
a grantee/grantmaker relationships when things dont
go according to plan.
