Chicago Area Grant Application

Working collaboratively, representatives from Chicago's foundations and corporate giving programs, as well as nonprofit organizations, designed a central application and reporting form to streamline these processes.

You can download both the Chicago Area Grant Application Form and Chicago Area Grant Report.

NOTE: To open these documents, you need Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ software. If you do not have this software, download it here at no cost.

These forms are now accepted by 40 local foundations and corporate giving programs and can be used in the place of the participating foundation's application and report forms. See a list of funders that accept the Chicago Area Grant Application Form and Chicago Area Grant Report. Even if none of these funders is on your short list of prospective donors, we recommend looking at these documents as useful examples.

Success Checklist

Have you

[  ] researched your short list of prospective donors to find out how they prefer to be approached?
[  ] approached them, following their instructions?
[  ] followed up with them?

If you've completed all of these, it's time to keep your fingers crossed and keep doing the important work that you do. It's usually wise to have a few potential donors that you are preparing to approach at any given time for a particular project or need, rather than relying only on your first proposal getting funded. Remember, sometimes funding deadlines change, or your proposal may get funded for less than you requested.

Best wishes on your fundraising journey!
