- Don't take it personally.
- Do follow up. Call the program officer and listen respectfully
to the reasons why your proposal was declined. Learn from those
reasons.
- Do ask whether you should apply next cycle.
What if the answer is yes?
Congratulations!
- Do send a thank-you letter, preferably from the CEO or the
Board Chair.
- Do respect all reporting requirements and meet scheduled deadlines.
- Negotiate recognition: press releases, plaques, etc.
